They made a substantial contribution to the gripping documentary "Myanmar's Civil War" on BBC World, which won the Emmy for Outstanding Continuing News Coverage in Short Form.
On his official social media account X (previously Twitter), Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma congratulated the journalists on their accomplishment and described it as a "historic moment" for the state.

“I congratulate HC Vanlalruata and Isaac Zoramsanga for their historic achievement as the first from Mizoram to be part of a team that won an International Emmy Award. Your dedication and courage in reporting Myanmar’s Civil War make Mizoram proud,” Lalduhoma posted on June 26.

According to reports, Zoramsanga and Vanlalruata both worked as producers on the BBC show, offering vital assistance with on-location reporting. Their achievements during a 10-day assignment in Chin State, western Myanmar—a area that borders India—are highlighted in their award citation. Through their efforts, the BBC team was able to enter infrequent conflict areas where ethnic resistance groups are actively battling for control of the area against Myanmar's military regime.

Vanlalruata disclosed that he and Zoramsanga were part of a five-person BBC team who visited Chin State in 2024 as part of their Emmy-winning work with a news agency. For the documentary, the crew collected ground-level input over the course of eight days.

The 6.5-minute documentary depicts the growing war and demonstrates how rebel groups have been able to expel the junta from a number of areas. It also reveals horrifying stories of torture, kidnappings, and murders committed by the junta in an effort to quell opposition and discourage young people from joining the fight.
