Manipur: Arms And Ammunition Cache Recovered In Churachandpur, Kangpokpi

These successful operations are part of ongoing efforts to deter illegal arms proliferation in the region and ensure law and order in sensitive areas.

IMPHAL: Extensive search operations and area domination exercises have been conducted by the security forces in Manipur in the vulnerable regions of hill and valley districts.

A substantial haul of arms and ammunition were recovered by the troops during operations in the Thangjing hill forest of Churachandpur district.

Various types of firearms were seized, the likes of which one country-made rifle, one bolt-action rifle, one .22 pistol, and one country-made 9 mm pistol.

Explosives were also confiscated, which included three country-made mortars of varying sizes, one local-made hand grenade, one HE bomb, and 500 grams of gunpowder.

10 live 5.56 mm rounds, 12 empty 7.62×39 mm cases, 4 empty 7.62×45 mm cases, 20 live 12 bore cartridge rounds, and 20 live 7.62 mm rounds of ammunition were also discovered.

Other items recovered in the raid included one helmet, two wireless sets with one charger, one local-made canon (Pumpi), and three hand grenades.

Additional arms and ammunition, including four country-made single-barrel bolt-action rifles were also found by security personnel in a separate operation in Manipur's Kangpokpi district.
