Manipur Celebrates 76th Republic Day, Eight Police Officers Conferred With President's Medals

Manipur marked the 76th Republic Day with a grand parade at Kangla, featuring 86 contingents and honoring eight police officers with President’s medals for distinguished and meritorious service.

IMPHAL: Manipur celebrated the 76th Republic Day on January 26 with a grand parade at Kangla. Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla led the event and took the salute. The parade featured 86 groups, including police units, cultural performers, and floats from different government departments.  

Eight Manipur police officers received President’s medals for their service. Sorokhaibam Rudranarayan Singh was honored with the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, while Laishram Chaoba Singh, Naorem Seilendra Singh, Sorokhaibam Santosh Singh, Khaidem Chandra Singh, Lenpu Kom, Lamthianson Chongloi, and Athokpam Tej Singh received the Medal for Meritorious Service.  

Chief Minister N Biren Singh, his cabinet, and senior officials attended the event, which celebrated India’s democratic spirit, unity, and Manipur’s contributions to the nation.

Meanwhile, India celebrated 75 years as a Republic, honoring the leaders who created the Constitution and built the foundation of democracy, dignity, and unity. On this special day, the nation looked back on its progress and renews its commitment to the values of the Constitution.

In his heartfelt tribute to the makers of the Constitution, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised their work in creating a thriving democracy. He called on the people to recommit themselves to creating a more powerful and affluent India, stressing the value of upholding the principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.
