Imphal: Manipur gets prestigious Krishi Karman Award for overall food grain production in 2017-18.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed Agriculture Minister’s Krishi Karman Awards for Progressive Farmers and Commendation Awards to the states at a public meeting in Tumkur, Karnataka on January 2, 2020.

The state of Manipur bagged the prestigious Krishi Karman Award as the best-performing State in Overall Food-grain Production Category-III (production less than 1 million tonnes) for the year 2017-18.

The award includes a trophy, a citation and an amount of Rs 5 crore.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh of Manipur received the prestigious award from PM Narendra Modi.

He tweeted, "Hon'ble CM received Krishi Karman Award 2017-18 from PM @narendramodi at Tumakuru, Karnataka today. Manipur was selected for the prestigious award as the best-performing State in Overall Food-grain Production Category-III for the year 2017-18. "

During the meeting, the PM released the 3rd installment of PM Kisan (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi) of Rs 2000 for the period December 2019 - March 2020. This will benefit approximately 6 crore beneficiaries.

The Prime Minister spoke about the interests of farmers with schemes like crop insurance, soil health cards and 100 percent neem coated urea.
