IMPHAL: The Manipur government has decided to resume bus services between Imphal and Churachandpur and Senapati from Saturday. Chief Secretary PK Singh has confirmed that the Manipur State Transport (MST) services will be run under the cover of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to provide safety to passengers and restore normalcy in the area.
Buses will run from Imphal airport at 9 a.m., while return trips from Churachandpur and Senapati will be conducted through Bishnupur and Kangpokpi districts.
Apart from the bus services, helicopter services between Churachandpur and Imphal will start on March 12, offering additional means of transport to locals and tourists. The government issued a strong word of warning that any attempt to disrupt MST bus operations will be met with action at law by applicable laws.
This decision follows a previous failed attempt last December 2024 to reactivate bus operations to Kangpokpi and Churachandpur, which was suspended following inadequate passenger movement at the MST complex in Moirangkhom, Imphal.
The new step by the government aims to increase connectivity and ease people's movement within the state, exhibiting persistent efforts to stabilize the region and maintain public safety.
With the resumption of these services, the Manipur government hopes to enable easier access and restore a sense of normalcy to society.
