IMPHAL: In a series of successful joint operations, the Indian Army, in collaboration with Manipur Police and other security forces, seized 10 weapons, ammunition, and warlike stores from the hill and valley regions of Manipur, including Kakching, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, and Thoubal districts.
On January 26, acting on specific intelligence, the Assam Rifles, alongside Manipur Police, carried out a joint operation in Nepali Basti, Veitum Khullen – Khoken village Road in Kangpokpi district. The operation led to the recovery of one 5.56 mm rifle, one 7.62 mm rifle, one modified .303 sniper rifle, one .22 pistol, one single barrel rifle, two improvised mortars, grenades, ammunition, and other warlike stores.
In a separate operation on January 25, based on actionable inputs, a joint team from Assam Rifles and Manipur Police apprehended a cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibanganba) in Waithou, Thoubal district, and recovered ammunition from his possession.
On January 28, in Churachandpur district, a joint operation between the Indian Army, CRPF, and Manipur Police, based on specific intelligence, was conducted along the road between Loilamkot and Nalon villages (4 km southeast of Nalon). This operation resulted in the recovery of six Long Rg Rockets (5-6 feet long), a launcher stand, a country-made mortar (Pompei), ammunition, and other warlike stores.
In a follow-up operation on the early morning of January 30, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police conducted a joint operation in the Chairel Khunou area of Kakching district. The operation led to the recovery of one 9mm rifle, a 9mm pistol, two grenades, ammunition, and other war-like stores. The apprehended individuals, along with the seized weapons and other items, have been handed over to the Manipur Police.
