IMPHAL: A joint team comprising Kakching District commandos, personnel from the 33 Assam Rifles, and Hiyanglam Police conducted a search operation in Sekmaijin Hangool Mayai Leikai. Acting on reliable intelligence, the team successfully recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition.
Official sources reported that the recovered items comprised a Self-Loading rifle (SLR) without a magazine, a single-barrel gun, a homemade 9mm pistol with an empty magazine, a country-made .32 pistol, and three high-explosive hand grenades without detonators.
Additionally, the team confiscated a tube launcher, three live 9mm rounds, two 12-bore cartridges, ten empty AK rifle cases, two stun shells, a tear smoke shell, a tear gas grenade, and a stun grenade.
Additionally, the team recovered a wireless set, two bulletproof vests, a pair of tactical boots, and a bulletproof helmet. The seized items have been handed over to the Hiyanglam police station for further investigation and necessary legal action.
Meanwhile, earlier last week, security personnel in Manipur conducted concentrated search operations and area domination exercises throughout vulnerable parts of the state, particularly in the fringe areas of hill and valley districts.
The operation led to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition in Bishnupur and Thoubal districts.
In Bishnupur’s Thong Khong Lok village, near Khunjarok Nala, security forces unearthed a significant quantity of arms, including one Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) with a magazine, a .303 Rifle, a 12-Bore Single Barrel Gun, two 9mm Pistols with magazines, an Anti-Riot Gun, two INSAS Light Machine Gun (LMG) magazines, and two INSAS Rifle magazines.
