Manipur: Joint Operations Lead To Arrests and Seizure of Weapons

Joint operations by the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police in February led to the arrest of 16 militants and the recovery of 23 weapons across multiple districts in Manipur.

IMPHAL: In a coordinated operation, the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police conducted a series of intelligence-based operations in various districts of Manipur on February 19-20, 2025. In these operations, 16 people linked with various militant groups were apprehended and 23 weapons recovered.

The operations commenced on February 19, when security forces acted on intelligence received regarding the presence of militants in Phadinga, Imphal West district, and Bhumpa Khulen, Thoubal district. An area domination patrol resulted in the arrest of three suspects, who claimed to be members of the KCP (PWG). The militants took over an AK series weapon, an INSAS rifle, a sniper rifle, a 12-bore weapon, and other war-like materials.

A major success was achieved on February 20, when a cordon and search operation in Moirang, Bishnupur district, led to the arrest of 13 militants, who were caught with ammunition and war-like items. These people professed allegiance to the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL).

Subsequent operations in Imphal West, Jiribam, Tengnoupal, and Kakching districts resulted in the seizure of different firearms such as rifles, pistols, grenades, and explosives. The arrested people and the recovered items have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation. These combined operations reflect the determination of security forces to ensure peace and stability in the area.
