IMPHAL: The BJP Manipur state unit and ex-Chief Minister N Biren Singh has offered a moving tribute to Border Security Force (BSF) Constable (GD) Deepak Chingakham, who died of injuries he received in cross-border firing on the International Boundary in the R S Pura sector of Jammu district.
The young soldier from Yairipok in Manipur's Thoubal district reached martyrdom in the early morning of May 11, 2025, following the struggle against critical injuries caused by hostile activity on May 10.
Going to social media platform X, N Biren Singh, himself a former BSF personnel, posted his sorrow and admiration for the martyr.
"Deeply saddened by the martyrdom of BSF Braveheart Constable (GD) Deepak Chingakham, who received fatal injuries in cross-border firing from Pakistan in the R S Pura sector and made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty," Biren posted. He called Deepak a "proud son of Manipur" and noted how his gallantry reflected the unflinching commitment of the Manipuri-Meitei people to the service and protection of the country.
Biren Singh also praised the tireless commitment and bravery of India's defense forces, their sacrifices in protecting the country's borders. He conveyed his deepest sympathies to Chingakham's bereaved family, promising them maximum support from the state and the party in this moment of such great loss.
"His sacrifice will always be remembered with honour and pride," Singh stressed, highlighting the shared respect and appreciation of the people of Manipur and the whole nation.
The premature death of Constable Deepak Chingakham deeply saddened the Manipuri people, eliciting a wave of condolences and tributes. His martyrdom is a grim reminder of the continuous tribulations of India's border security forces and the ultimate sacrifice that many make in the line of duty.
