IMPHAL: Security forces carried out extensive search and area domination operations across the fringe and vulnerable zones of hill and valley districts in Manipur. These operations led to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and other items along Sagaishabi Road (Konchak Yangbi Road) in Imphal West District.
The recovered items include two 9 mm pistols with two magazines, one carbine with a magazine, one point 303 rifle modified as a sniper with a scope sight, three single-barrel guns, twelve rounds of 9 mm ammunition, two single-barrel cartridges, four hand grenades, one smoke grenade, and one Baofeng wireless set.
In a related development, the Manipur Police Control Room facilitated the movement of 426 vehicles transporting essential items along National Highway-2 (NH-2). To uphold law and order, stringent security measures were enforced, including the deployment of security convoys along sensitive stretches.
Meanwhile, three Kangleipak Communist Party (MFL) members were arrested on December 18 at the Thangmeiband Watham Leirak crossing in Imphal West. A 9mm and a .32 handgun, together with ammunition, cell phones, and a two-wheeler, were discovered in the custody of the arrested persons, Gotimayum Shridevi Devi, Abujam Manosh Singh, and Abujam Sunder Singh.
In Makou Pourabi, Imphal East District, security personnel successfully demolished two underground camps during a cordon and search operation. An air gun, cell phones, a BP helmet, uniforms, an INSAS LMG magazine, ammo, a bayonet, dummy guns, walkie-talkie sets, and vehicles were found during a raid on a PREPAK camp-cum-training centre and a KYKL hideout.
