IMPHAL: In a joint operation, state and central security personnel in Manipur carried out a successful operation in the Ngariyan Hills, Imphal East district, seizing a large quantity of illegal weapons and explosives. The operation, which was carried out over the last 24 hours, was launched on the basis of intelligence reports that anti-social elements were taking shelter in a strategic location.
The joint team launched a flash operation at approximately 7 am on Monday, targeting a location near the Don Bosco Training Centre under the jurisdiction of the Andro police station. Although the suspects managed to evade capture, the operation resulted in the seizure of multiple illegal items.
Among the items recovered were three guns, a 12-bore barrel gun, and two 9mm pistols, as well as two magazines. The operation also revealed four hand grenades with detonators, indicating the possible danger posed by the suspects.
Apart from the weapons, the team also seized a large amount of ammunition, including 20 rounds each of 7.62mm, 5.56mm, and 9mm live ammunition and 20 rounds of 5.56x30mm Amogh Carbine ammunition. INSAS magazines and SLR magazines, anti-riot shells, bulletproof jackets, and bulletproof helmets, and a rucksack were among the other things that were seized. Two radio sets were also among the electronic items.
The recovered items have been handed over to the local police station for further legal proceedings in accordance with applicable laws.
