9-Lad to hit big screen on February 28

SHILLONG: The much-awaited movie titled “9-Lad” which is based on alcoholism and livelihood will hit the screen at Bijou Cinema and Galleria Anjalee here from February 28, 2020.

Movie director Commander Shangpliang, who is also its producer, informed that the film was supposed to be released in 2019 but the release date had to be shifted to February 28, 2020 for bringing in some changes to attract more spectarors.

The film was shot in the city’s hub Police Bazar during both day and night. The title song of the the movie “9-Lad” has already crossed 3.6 million views in Youtube.

Disclosing a bit on the storyline of this movie, he said that the film is based on a young woman who was raised by a single parent, married off against her mother’s wish to a good-for-nothing drunkard who was her first husband. She is now a single parent struggling for livelihood at 9-Lad to raise her two children. She is then lured into getting easy money and has to encounter many challenges.

Shangpliang informed that the script was written after a thorough research; and some parts of the movie was influenced by a true incident. He has urged the public to enjoy his movie which has a social message so as to motivate him to make more movies on social issues.

While the movie will be screened at 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm, 5 pm and 7 pm at Bijou Cinema; there will be only one show of the film at Galleria Anjalee. The timing is yet to be announced.
