Batskhem Ryntathiang, MDC Mairang Constituency tips on balanced diet

SHILLONG: Batskhem Ryntathiang, MDC Mairang Constituency said that people who live in remote areas think that it is difficult to attain a nutritional diet for children, pregnant women, lactating mothers as compared to people who live in urban areas.

The MDC was addressing a gathering as the chief guest to the Anganwadi workers, ASHAs and farmers a function organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, West Khasi Hills at Tirot Sing Memorial Hall, Pyndengumiong, Mairang, West Khasi Hills District on Thursday.

"This programme plays a very important role as it helps us understand that anyone can get a healthy and balanced diet with proper guidance and training," Batskhem Ryntathiang said.

The nutritional importance to vulnerable groups like infants, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers were explained by L Warjri, Senior Scientist and Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra West Khasi Hills and also emphasized the importance of consumption of nutritional diets with locally available materials to attain nutritional security.
