BSF Seizes Over Rs 61 Lakh Worth Of Contraband In Meghalaya

The Border Security Force (BSF) in Meghalaya has successfully seized contraband items worth more than Rs 61 lakh, thwarting multiple smuggling attempts along the international border.

SHILLONG: In a series of well-coordinated operations, the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya successfully intercepted multiple smuggling attempts along the international border, seizing contraband items valued at over Rs 61 lakh.

In collaboration with Meghalaya Police, personnel from the 144 Bn BSF Meghalaya thwarted a major smuggling attempt in South Garo Hills, confiscating assorted contraband worth more than Rs 41 lakhs. Simultaneously, a separate operation by the 4 Bn BSF Meghalaya led to the seizure of smuggled goods valued at over Rs 20 lakhs near the West Jaintia Hills border.

The contraband, intended for illegal transit into Bangladesh, was cleverly hidden in dense jungle areas along the border. Acting on credible intelligence, BSF teams launched strategic operations, effectively preventing the unlawful movement of goods.
