Caretakers rescued trapped deer in Umiam, Meghalaya

SHILLONG: In a commendable act by two private property caretakers in Umiam, Meghalaya, the duo rescued a deer trapped in a neighbour's barbed wire fence wire. The caretakers – Dlenstar Kubah and Swershon Nongspung – said that they saw the injured deer while on their way to fish at Umiam river at around 1:30 pm. Later, they immediately rescued the deer and called the property owner, who in turn called Umiam Police Station. Umiam police referred the matter to the department concerned and the injured deer was sent for medical treatment by wildlife officials. The wildlife official who was on duty said that the deer is in pretty good shape and is healthy. The official meanwhile praised the rescuers for saving the life of the deer.
