Daylong Legal Awareness Programme On NALSA At Muktapur Village

SHILLONG: The District Legal Services Authority of West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai held a daylong legal awareness programme on NALSA (Protection and Enforcement of Tribal Rights) scheme 2015, at Muktapur Village, recently.

E Kharumnuid, MHJS District and Sessions Judge and chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority, West Jaintia Hills while highlighting the purpose of the programme said that the legal service was introduced by the National Legal Services to look into the rights of the people living in remote areas. He further added that it is important for every person to know about the rights pertaining to their education and health.

A health camp was also organized on the same day in which the government department concerned administered free health check-up to more than 1,000 people from the area covering beneficiaries from 23 villages.

Other government departments which took part in the programme were the office of the District Medical and Health Officer, office of the District Social Welfare Officer, office of the District Child Protection Officer and the office of the District Programme Officer (ICDS).
