SHILLONG: The Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Policy Research and Analysis at IIM Shillong has launched a five-day Management Development Program (MDP) aimed at mid-level government officials from Arunachal Pradesh.
The program, which began on December 16th and will run until December 20th, is tailored to improve governance and public service delivery for 30 seasoned officers.
Dr. Sanjeev Ningombam, head of the Kalam Centre, inaugurated the program and offered a detailed overview of the curriculum. He emphasized its focus on promoting innovation, efficiency, and better administrative practices. Dr. Ningombam also outlined the expected outcomes, including improved governance and enhanced public service delivery.
In his inaugural address, IIM Shillong Director Prof. DP Goyal highlighted the crucial role of administrative officers in ensuring effective governance.
He urged participants to uphold integrity, take initiative, and adopt a people-centric approach in their roles. Prof. Goyal stressed the need to embrace change, adapt to shifting dynamics, and remain committed to continuous learning to improve both individual and organizational performance.
The program’s curriculum covers a wide array of topics, including leadership, project management, financial management, and digital transformation in governance. Participants will gain essential insights into e-governance, GIS-based planning, data-driven decision-making, as well as key issues like cyber-security and data privacy.
Interactive workshops and discussions, facilitated by industry experts, will provide the officers with practical strategies to tackle challenges in public administration.
This initiative reinforces IIM Shillong’s commitment to building the capacity of government officials in the Northeast. Through the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Centre, the institute continues to focus on fostering leadership development, policy advocacy, and sustainable progress in the region.
