Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Summons Chiefs

SHILLONG: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) in an Executive Committee (EC) meeting has taken a decision to summon both the Syiem (traditional chief) and secretary of Hima Nongspung on May 23. The council has taken a decision to summon the Syiem Patrick Rai and Secretary of the Hima Michael Warjri to seek clarification from them on the allegations that Hima Nongspung has given a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to the Assam government to implement the construction of roads through the PMGSY scheme of the central government at Balakhawa village which is in Meghalaya. The Deputy CEM of KHADC Pyniaid Sing Syiem said, “We have summoned both the Syiem and the secretary of the Hima to find out the truth on the NOC issued to the government of Assam to carry out the construction work despite the area falling under the jurisdiction of Meghalaya.”
