SHILLONG: Representatives of three villages under Mawkynrew constituency have sought the intervention of the State government for improving the road connectivity in the area. The representatives of the three villages including Mawsir, Mawdulop and Ksanryngii submitted a memorandum to the local MLA who is also Minister of Agriculture and Sports and Youth Affairs Banteidor Lyngdoh — through the Village Development Committee (VDC) — in this regard at a public meeting held at Ksanryngi on June 14.

In the memorandum, representatives of the three villages apprised the Minister that they have been waiting for the past many years to have a black topping road connecting the three village (Mawsir, Mawdulop and Ksanryngi). The road connecting the three villages stretches about 4-5 km.

“We approached the previous representatives of this constituency on many occasions in the past. However our dream of getting a proper road connecting our villages has not been fruitful and now we have to use this road which is not conducive for even small vehicles especially during the rainy season as it becomes muddy,” expressed the traditional heads at the public meeting. During the public meeting, all the three traditional heads of the villages demanded developmental projects in the area.

The public meeting was organized by the traditional heads along with the support of the MLA of the area and was attended by officers from various government departments including the Block Development Officer of Mawkynrew C&RD Block, LT Tariang, officials from PHE department, Border Area Department, PWD (Roads), Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Agriculture and Horticulture and other departments.

Meanwhile, MLA Banteidor Lyngdoh, in his speech said, that it was the first time he had set foot at Ksanryngi village and expressed his delight to visit the three villages and meet the people of this area.

“My sole objective is to bring about various developmental activities to the people. The purpose of organizing today’s public meeting is to understand better the problems encountered by the people,” Banteidor said while issuing ‘Work Orders’ for a few developmental projects in these three village.
