TURA: A body of a man was found near the Lad-Lakadong to Borghat road in East Jaintia Hills district on December 17, at around 8 a.m., which led the police to start an investigation into the mysterious circumstances of his death.
After receiving the distressing news of a body in the jungle, Sub-Inspector S. Bamon along with his team were called to the scene, where initial tests were carried out at the location itself and all due formalities as required by the legal process were performed before transporting the body to the Civil Hospital, Khliehriat for post-mortem examination.
The deceased was reported to be between 50 and 55 years of age. He had a fair complexion. He was attired in a blue jacket and a yellow T-shirt when he died. The body has been taken to the hospital morgue pending further identification and forensic analysis.
The East Jaintia Hills authorities are exerting efforts to know what has caused the death and also trace all possible leads which could assist them in shedding more light on the case. While no foul play has been confirmed, investigators are not ruling out any possibilities as they continue their efforts.
The incident has brought concern among the local residents as they wait for further updates from the police regarding the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
