SHILLONG: NPP (National People's Party) president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma renewed his campaigns for party candidates contesting the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) after a Good Friday break.
This time (Saturday), the Meghalaya Chief Minister was in North Garo Hills district on Saturday and banked on ruling party's development interventions across the State to woo the voters for the ensuing GHADC election.
The Chief Minister did not mince a word on the GHADC financial crisis where hundreds of employees have gone without salary for the past many months. Instead, he focused on his government initiatives to bring about all-round development in the State. During his nine-day stay in the Garo Hills, Conrad Sangma has led from the front in mustering support for his party candidates.
On Saturday, he told a gathering at Rangagora under Bolsong GHADC Constituency in North Garo Hills that the NPP-led ruling party has been able to initiate various development interventions in road, education and health sector. "We are committed to create better road infrastructure in the State, improve education and health infrastructure in the State. Our Government is working to make a difference for our people. We have started our mission to transform Meghalaya and in the next two years, more initiatives will be taken up to better the lives of our people", he said.
The Chief Minister also informed that in the last three years, approximately Rs 2,000 crore was invested for enhancing and improving road connectivity in the Garo hills.
But going by the campaign of the Congress party led by the Leader of the Opposition Mukul M Sangma, these claims are lies of the present dispensation.
Both parties are claiming that are going to get the majority in the 30-member GHADC.
