Meghalaya: Joplin Sten Named NPP Candidate for Mawhati MDC Election

The National People’s Party (NPP) Mawhati Block has officially declared Joplin Sten as its candidate for the upcoming Member of District Council (MDC) election from the Mawhati Constituency.

Nongpoh: The National People’s Party (NPP) Mawhati Block has officially declared Joplin Sten as its candidate for the upcoming Member of District Council (MDC) election from the Mawhati Constituency. The announcement, made during a meeting at the Nongjri playground, also included the introduction of new office bearers for the NPP Mawhati Block, as well as members of the party’s youth and women wings, the National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) and National Women’s Front (NWPF).

Deputy Chief Minister and State NPP president Prestone Tynsong, addressing the gathering, urged party members to work unitedly toward victory. “The NPP is committed to bringing transformative development to Mawhati. We must stand together to ensure success in the election,” he said.

Tynsong also detailed the party’s developmental agenda for the constituency, which includes upgrading road infrastructure, establishing a Community and Rural Development (C&RD) Block, and implementing welfare schemes to improve the region’s overall progress.

The meeting saw participation from senior party leaders, including State Working President Hamlet Dohling, Mawhati MLA Charles Marngar, and State NPYF President Wailad Shylla, who collectively emphasized the importance of grassroots support to drive the party’s vision for Mawhati. Tynsong went on to reaffirm the party's commitment to growth and prosperity in Mawhati by saying, “Our goal is not just to win, but to bring meaningful change to the lives of people in this region.”
