Meghalaya records 26 more COVID-19 cases; 23 recover

SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Monday recorded 26 more COVID-19 cases and 23 recovered from the virus, informed Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War, adding that the total active cases are 193; and a total of 13,956 persons have recovered from the virus.

Of the 26 new cases – seven were recorded in East Khasi Hills district and 19 in West Jaintia Hills district. Of the 23 recovered cases, 21 are from East Khasi Hills district and two from West Khasi Hills district.

East Khasi Hills is the most affected district with 144 active cases (Armed Forces/Para Military Forces: 18; civilians: 126); West Jaintia Hills: 24; Ri-Bhoi: 14; West Garo Hills: six (Armed Forces/Para Military Forces: two; civilians: four); East Jaintia Hills: four; and South West Khasi Hills: one.

Of the 4,22,738 persons tested till date, as many as 4,08,438 were negative while 14,300 are confirmed cases. Of the 1,46,680 persons administered the Covishield vaccine till date, a total of 40,379 have received their second dose.

The breakup of category-wise of persons who have received the vaccine are: Healthcare workers: 22,582 (first dose) and15,872 (second dose); frontline workers: 33,259 (first dose) and 20,983 (second dose); general public vaccinated: 50,460 (first dose) and 3,524 (second dose), added Dr War.
