SHILLONG: Numerous TB2 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of Bangladesh have been observed in the vicinity of India-Bangladesh international boundary near Sohra and Shella, Meghalaya. In the era of worsening relations between the two nations, these sightings have raised the security concerns even further.

Indian Air Force systems reportedly saw these unmanned aerial vehicles while they were flying in the area over the northern sectors of Chhatak and Sunamganj in Bangladesh. More specifically, another TB2 type aircraft known as TB2R1071 was said to be deployed in the Operations from Tejgaon Airbase in Bangladesh.

Idashisha Nongrang, Meghalaya's Director General of Police (DGP), mentioned this problem to the Border Security Force (BSF) and Indian Air Force (IAF) security service..  However, no further information on the subsequent measures has so far been made available.

As per the BSF, the sophisticated UAV can only be neutralized or its identification by number system detected by means of electronic devices like radars.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, a couple of Bangladeshi Bayraktar TB2 UAVs were spotted close to the international border, south of Cherrapunjee and Shella in Meghalaya, according to sources. The UAVs flew north of Chhatak and Sunamganj in Bangladesh, about 200 metres south of the zero line.

The Bangladeshi drones were deployed along the Meghalaya border just after the Indian Foreign Secretary, Vikram Misri, completed his crucial visit to Dhaka.

Sources claimed that the Tejgaon Airbase was operating one of the drones, identified by its transponder code TB2R1071.

The Indian Air Force's radar intercepted a similar UAV near the West Bengal border, indicating a pattern of intensified UAV deployments by Bangladesh along the 4,096 km-long border.
