Meghalaya State BJP Names Joshua Warjri as Shella By-poll Candidate

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya State BJP on Friday announced the name of Joshua Warjri as it’s a candidate for the Shella by-poll scheduled to be held on October 21.

The announcement was made by BJP MLA Sanbor Shullai at the party office in Shillong in the presence of State party president Shibun Lyngdoh, vice-president David Kharsati beside other party leaders.

Speaking to reporters, Shullai urged the people of the constituency including party workers to work hard to ensure that the party comes up victorious at the by-election.

He also appealed to all the party functionaries, and Central leaders, MLAs including Union Ministers and Chief Ministers of other northeastern States to spare their time to take part in the campaign for the candidate at Shella constituency.

Shullai informed that it was only on September 26, late in the evening they received the approval to field a candidate at Shella constituency.

Meanwhile, State BJP president Shibun Lyngdoh said that during the Lok Sabha election, the BJP with little time and no proper campaign, managed to receive around 5,000 votes.

He also informed that the party at Shella has managed to enroll more than 5,000 new members to the BJP till date.
