Meghalaya: Tynsong warns of legal action over alleged circulation of demand notes

Shillong: Amid rising concerns over the alleged circulation of demand notes on social media, Deputy Chief Minister in-charge of Home (Police), Prestone Tynsong, has issued a stern warning against any form of illegal fund collection and urged the public to report such activities to the authorities. “If there is any kind of collection of fund or money illegally by any group of people by any individual, law again will take action accordingly,” said Tynsong. When asked about the viral images of demand notes, he responded, “That’s what I’m telling, whatever we receive—once the letter, the demand note or whatever—if the concern individuals send it to us, then action will be taken accordingly. But the problem is sometimes, even those people who receive such letter or such demand, they never complaint, they never inform the government machineries.” Tynsong appealed to citizens not to remain silent. “So I would request all the concern in case, if they receive any kind of demand note from anywhere, please come forward informed the government and action will be taken according.” On whether the government will initiate suo motu action, he added, “Yes, it is, that is the ongoing process we are doing it.”
