National Deworming Day today to be observed in all schools and Anganwadi centres of East Khasi Hills

SHILLONG: National Deworming Day (NDD) will be observed on April 25 in all schools and Anganwadi centres of East Khasi Hills district with an aim to intensify efforts towards eradicating Soil-Transmitted Helminths.

According to authorities, the objective of State Deworming Day is to deworm all pre-school and school-age children between the ages of 1-19 years through the platform of schools and Anganwadi centres in order to improve their overall health, nutritional status, access to education and quality of life.

The State Deworming Day will be followed by a mop-up-day (MOD) on April 30 with the intent of deworming children, who missed the dose on April 25.

All schools and Anganwadi centres will be the implementation sites of NDD across the district.

In addition, the office of the Additional District Medical & Health Officer, East Khasi Hills District will launch National Deworming Day 2019 at Sacred Heart Girls Higher Secondary School, Shillong on the April 25 at 10 am.
