'SAMPRITI-IX' joint military exercise reaches its culmination at Umroi in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: As the ninth edition of the joint exercise reached its culmination on Sunday, the participating contingents successfully achieved the exercise objectives. Over the past two weeks, the armies of India and Bangladesh participated in the joint military exercise ‘SAMPRITI-IX’ at Umroi in Meghalaya.

‘SAMPRITI-IX’ was aimed at strengthening the military relations between the two countries, which allowed the two armies to understand each other’s tactical drills and operating techniques.

The head of observer delegations from both sides conveyed their appreciation for the participating contingents for achieving the objectives of the exercise.

The exercise provided an ideal platform for the personnel of both the countries to share their experiences on counter-insurgency, counter-terrorism operations and also in providing aid to civil authorities for disaster management especially in jungles and semi-urban terrain.

SAMPRITI is a series of joint exercises. It is a very important military and diplomatic initiative between both nations. This edifice of trust and friendship between India and Bangladesh has been nurtured in each edition.

Besides training, personnel of both the contingents also participated in a number of activities including friendly volleyball and basketball matches.

A magnificent parade and the customary exchange of mementos marked the successful completion of Indo-Bangladesh joint exercise.

Besides promoting understanding and interoperability between the two armies, it further helped in strengthening ties between India and Bangladesh.

India and Bangladesh share 4,096 km (2,545 mile) border, the fifth-longest land border in the world.
