Swasth Bharat cycle rally flagged off in Shillong

Shillong: Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills District PS Dkhar on Thursday flagged off the Swasth Bharat Yatra cycle rally from Polo Parking Lot, Shillong. The cycle rally is part of the Swasth Bharat Yatra on “Eat Right India”, a PAN India cycle tour. The cyclists will cycle their way through the city till they reach Umiam.

The Swasth Bharat Yatra team which reached Shillong on November 20 are on their way towards Ri Bhoi district where they will have similar programmes at Nongpoh College and USTM, Kiling and thereafter at Guwahati.

The Swasth Bharat Yatra team started their journey from Agartala on October 16, 2018 and will culminate at New Delhi on January 27, 2019. It may be mentioned that Swasth Bharat Yatra was initiated by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) with an objective to propagate the message to the people on the importance of eating right in order to stay healthy.
