Workshop on management of crisis conducted by the Meghalaya State Disaster Management Authority

SHILLONG: A workshop on crisis management organized by the Meghalaya State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) in collaboration with the British High Commission, Kolkata was held here on Wednesday.

Addressing the gathering at the inaugural session as the chief guest, Additional Chief Secretary Peter W Ingty thanked the British High Commission, Kolkata for collaborating with the State government in organizing the workshop, adding that the objective of the workshop is to establish a working relationship among the key stakeholders and key responders to respond to any disaster or calamity in the most effective and efficient manner.

Adding that the SDMA has conducted a number of exercises and mock drills in the event of a natural disaster like earthquake, he pointed out that the State is also hit by different kinds of disasters like landslides, and of people trapped in bore well. Therefore, he stressed that the SDMA should also be prepared for such disasters.

During the occasion, he also launched the logo of the Meghalaya State Disaster Management Authority.
