AIZAWL: Based on specific information, a joint operation of the 23 Sector Assam Rifles -- under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) -- and the Customs Preventive Force, Zokhawathar, Champhai District led to the recovery of 220 bags of smuggled areca nuts from the area of Tlangsam-Ruantlang in Mizoram on February 6.
The approximate value of the recovered areca nuts is Rs 46,20,000. The Customs personnel seized the contraband items. They also detained six individuals, stated a release.
