Assam Rifles recover heroin in Mizoram

Assam Rifles, VDP, and Ngopa Police conducted a joint raid on June 24 based on intel about heroin movement in Saitual.

AIZAWL: Based on specific intelligence regarding the movement of a suspected individual in possession of Heroin No. 4 from Hiangmun, Saitual, a joint operation was conducted on June 24 by the Assam Rifles, the Village Defence Party (VDP) of Hiangmun, and representatives from Ngopa Police Station.

During the operation, one individual — a resident of Myanmar holding an Aadhaar card issued in Manipur — was intercepted. The operation led to the recovery of 121 grams of Heroin No. 4, with an estimated market value of Rs 90,75,000.

The seized contraband and the apprehended individual have been handed over to Ngopa Police Station for further investigation, stated a press release.
