MIZORAM: The Serchipp Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recovered 65 cases of cigarettes of foreign origin worth Rs. 97.5 crore at Zokhawthar, Champhai district on Tuesday. The operation was carried out by a combined team of the Assam Rifles and Customs Department, Champhai, based on specific information. The Assam Rifles team recovered the items that were dumped in Zokhawthar along the Indo-Myanmar border. The seized consignment was handed over to the Customs Department in Champhai on Tuesday for further legal proceedings, stated a press release.
