AIZAWL: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Tuesday inaugurated the Aizawl Peak Resort Skywalk, the first skywalk in the mountainous northeastern state.

Speaking at the inaugural function, the Chief Minister praised the dedication and hard work of Er. H. Ginzalal, Adviser to the Chief Minister (Technical), and his family, who manage the Aizawl Peak Resort. He commended their perseverance and faith, acknowledging that their efforts have been rewarded. Lalduhoma also expressed gratitude for their contribution to promoting tourism in Mizoram.

The Skywalk was built by Nail India Adventure Private Limited, Pune. It is made of 30mm thick toughened glass. The structure is 10 meters long and 2.24 meters wide. Each square meter of glass can hold seven people, and the entire Skywalk can support 135 people at a time.

A 9,500 kg sandbag test was done to check the Skywalk's strength. NIT Mizoram also tested it and confirmed it could safely hold 150 people weighing about 100 kg each. However, only 20 visitors are allowed on the Skywalk at a time for better safety and crowd control.

The Aizawl Peak Resort Skywalk is expected to boost tourism in Mizoram, offering visitors a unique experience and panoramic views of the region's scenic landscape.
