Mizoram Governor Felicitates Assam Rifles Personnel With Gold And Silver Medals

Mizoram Governor honored 35 Assam Rifles personnel with medals for exemplary service, lauding their anti-drug efforts, arms recovery, and welfare projects benefiting local communities.

AIZAWL: In recognition of their outstanding dedication and service, Mizoram Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati honored 35 Assam Rifles personnel during an Investiture Ceremony held at the Circular Lawn, Raj Bhavan, on December 13. The event, organized under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), witnessed the presentation of the Governor’s Gold and Silver Medals for the year 2024.

Among the winners, 15 received gold medals and 20 silver medals for excellent service rendered in their line of duty. Governor Kambhampati complimented the Assam Rifles as one of India's oldest paramilitary forces and appreciated the role these forces play to ensure safe and wholesome environments, specifically among the hill communities that earned them the name "Friends of the Hill People."

He especially appreciated the role of 23 Sector Assam Rifles in fighting the drug menace and hailed them for their relentless efforts in seizing contraband and narcotics worth several crores. He also acknowledged their successes in recovering illegal arms consignments and apprehending insurgents, which has contributed much to regional peace and security.

The Governor emphasized the sincerity of the Assam Rifles towards development and the welfare of the public, which has been reflected through their Civil Action Projects undertaken in the areas. He requested the medal recipients to go on with steadfast service by taking this recognition as a motivation and keep doing exemplary work for the nation.

The ceremony showed the legacy of Assam Rifles to be a force that has served security and the welfare of the people in India's northeastern region.
