Six youths booked for supplying drugs and liquor to quarantine centres in Mizoram

Mizoram police have booked six youth for supplying drugs and liquor in the quarantine centres

Guwahati: Mizoram police have booked six youths for supplying drugs and liquor in the quarantine centers.

It has been reported that a 22-year-old who is currently under home quarantine in Aizwal had sent his ATM Card details to his three friends to bring liquor. The three friends after withdrawing cash from an ATM bought locally made liquor and secretly gave it to the quarantined person.

Although the swab samples of the trio tested negative, Mizoram police have registered cases against him and his friends for their unlawful behavior. The accused are yet to be arrested, and they are currently in quarantine facilities. However, the Mizoram police said that stern legal actions will be taken soon.

A similar case has come to light where a 33-year-old man secretly tried to supply drugs from outside to another person who is in quarantine in Khatla East community center. Later, the 33-year-old man confessed his crime during an interrogation to Mizoram Police. The accused had been tested using RT-PCR. In spite of his negative results, he has been put under quarantine.

It needs mention here that Mizoram today reported 2 more Covid-19 positive cases, taking the tally of cases to 104. A single patient has been discharged after treatment. The two new patients that have been tested positive are aged 23 and 22 and hail from Aizawl and Siaha districts, respectively.
