Nagaland Elections: Polling Officials Leave for Their Respective Stations

Earlier the CEO had shared images of hundreds of vehicles that were requisitioned by the authorities

KOHIMA: The people of Nagaland are ready to cast their valuable votes to select the members of the next Nagaland Legislative Assembly. The voting will begin at 7 AM on February 27 and come to an end at 4 PM.

The election campaigning came to an end at 4 PM on Saturday. Multiple candidates took separate initiatives to reach out to their voters on the last leg of campaigning. Voting will take place across 2315 polling stations distributed across 59 constituencies of the state. Over 13 lakh votes will decide 59 winners out of 183 candidates belonging to 12 political parties.

“Silence period started from 4 PM today for Nagaland & Meghalaya #AssemblyElections2023 where polling is scheduled on Feb 27,2023 During this time, election campaigning is prohibited,” mentioned a Twitter handle of the Election Commission of India.

The polling officials to accept the votes of the public were also dispatched from the necessary locations since the morning of Saturday. The officials who will be on duty at the far-flung locations of the state were dispatched first, followed by those in the nearby locations.

They also shared several images of the officials accepting the equipment and leaving for their respective polling stations. The Chief Electoral Officer also tweeted, “Polling personnel for 6-Tening A/C were dispatched for their respective polling stations along with EVMs and other poll related materials from the Office of ADC Peren on 25th Feb 2023” along with photos of the polling officers.

Earlier they had shared images of hundreds of vehicles that were requisitioned by the authorities to take the election officials to their destinations as well as bring them back to the strong rooms with the tweet, “Vehicles requisitioned for the upcoming Nagaland General Election 2023 stationed at the parking lot, local ground, Peren on 24th Feb 2023”

The Chief Electoral Officer of Meghalaya had also shared several photos and a video of a vehicle trying to navigate through a shallow river to take the electoral officers to their polling station.
