Kohima: The Eastern Naga People's Organization (ENPO) has reiterated its pledge of December 18, 2019 to declare ENPO jurisdiction as "peaceful zone" due to the unresolved land dispute between the Tikhir and Khiamniungan communities.

The Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) President L. Ngon Khiamniungan and Tikhir Tribal Council President Chingmak Chang agreed to give each other "amicable spaces" in a "referendum" jointly signed by the two.

The "amicable space" is in reference to any social event or festival that takes place in Thonoknyu town and will apply until the landownership of the town is settled.

The pledge of December 18, 2019, that "Henceforth, any disputes, misunderstandings within Eastern Nagaland people shall be localized within the parties involved and resolved within the concerned group through peaceful dialogue" was also reminded by the referendum.

Regarding this, ENPO has asked the Khiamniungan and Tikhir brothers to continue acting in the same manner for the sake of Eastern Nagaland until a mutually agreeable solution is reached.

In December 2024, the Eastern Nagaland Peoples' Organisation (ENPO) announced its temporary acceptance of the Indian government’s Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) offer, describing it as a "unique arrangement" with executive, legislative, and financial autonomy.

During a tripartite meeting on December 13, 2024, convened by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, ENPO reiterated its demand for a separate state but acknowledged current challenges. ENPO commended progress made and scheduled further discussions for January 2025.

Expressing trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and key officials, ENPO thanked state and central representatives, including MHA Committee leader AK Mishra, for supporting Eastern Nagaland's aspirations without delay.
