KOHIMA: On January 15, 2025, the District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) of Kohima held its monthly meeting at the DPDB Hall, presided over by Chairman Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, MLA, and Vice-Chairman Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima.
During the session, DC Ramnikant reviewed the minutes from the previous meeting and welcomed three new members, including Superintendent of Police Kohima, Teisovise Metha, IPS. He emphasized the importance of staff attendance from Kohima district offices in preparation for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.
MLA Rhutso took up the agenda and urged upon the need for a Link Road to JNV Yakouke, Kohima, as a matter of urgency. He brought out the fact that proper security fencing is required around the school because the present footpath runs through its premises. The Board unanimously approved to place this proposal under further action.
In addition, Rhutso asked the district officers to present some challenges and success stories at subsequent DPDB meetings using PowerPoint presentations for productive collaboration across departments.
Er. Obed Natso, the Executive Engineer of Kohima Division's Water Resource Department (WRD), presented a comprehensive outline of different initiatives in the department through presentations on PMKSY-HKKP, NFC projects, and the National Hydrology Project, among others, for improving irrigation and water resource management. He also identified problems such as natural disasters, site accessibility, and scarcity of manpower while referring to the participation of the district in the Jal Shakti Abhiyan, "Catch the Rain.
The Kohima Municipal Council is set to present at the next DPDB meeting.
