GUWAHATI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for upcoming heat wave conditions in various states such as Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Punjab.

The weather forecast predicts that all of these regions will witness maximum temperatures for the next four to five days with the possibility of an increase of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius.

Apart from the heat wave, the IMD has forecasted a subsequent drop in temperatures by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in the next three days after the heat wave. This temperature fluctuation is likely to affect day-to-day life and can be harmful to health, especially for the vulnerable sections of society.

The weather agency also predicts light to moderate rain with thunderstorms, lightning, and breezy winds gusting up to 50 kilometers per hour. All these weather conditions are likely to impact Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Karnataka, and areas of East and Northeast India for the next five days.

People in the affected localities are requested to take proper precautions against the heat and be vigilant about the weather updates. The IMD will keep the situation under close watch and issue subsequent updates if necessary. With the arrival of the summer season in the country, such weather trends remind us about the importance of being prepared in the context of changing climatic conditions.
