GANGTOK: Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba on Tuesday inaugurated the 27th National Integration & Youth Leadership Camp during the inaugural ceremony held at Chintan Bhavan.
The week-long event, organized by the Science and Culture Organization for Youth (CCSCOY) in cooperation with the Government of Sikkim and the North Eastern Council, is set to promote national integration and youth leadership among participants from across the country, a press release informs.
The inaugural program commenced with a band display by the Indian Army, organized by the Ministry of Defence. This was followed by a soul-stirring inaugural song by Archana Sarkar, music director of CCSCOY, and a mesmerizing dance performance led by Shri Soumen Ghosh, dance director of CCSCOY.
The event also featured an address by Professor Basab Chaudhuri, former Vice-Chancellor of West Bengal State University, who provided insights into the objectives and impact of the National Integration Camp. The Vice-Chancellor of Sikkim University, Prof. Jyoti Prakash Tamang, graced the event as a special guest, sharing his perspective on the significance of youth-led initiatives.
The highlight of the ceremony was a seminar on ‘Space Science & Indian Space Exploration Missions,’ delivered by Dr. Shyam S. Kundu, head of the Space and Atmospheric Science Division, NESAC. The session inspired participants to explore the vast potential of India’s space program and its role in national development, the release mentions.
