GANGTOK: Vijay Bhushan Pathak, the outgoing Chief Secretary of Sikkim, has been appointed as the Chief Administrator-cum-Cabinet Secretary with effect from Wednesday, January 1. Pathak will assume the role of cabinet minister.
A seasoned and respected administrator, he is expected to leverage his extensive experience to enhance governance in the state. This strategic appointment underscores the government's focus on reinforcing administrative efficiency.
Pathak's proven leadership is anticipated to play a pivotal role in streamlining processes and fostering development in Sikkim, further strengthening the state's governance framework.
Meanwhile, Ravindra Telang, an IAS officer from the 1995 batch, has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Sikkim on Friday, December 27, succeeding Vijay Bhushan Pathak (IAS: 1990:SK), who is set to retire at the end of this month on December 31.
Earlier, Telang served as the additional chief secretary in charge of Sikkim's education department in 2022. His vast experience in public administration has been a key factor in his elevation to the state's top administrative position.
Senior AS officer Vijay Bhushan Pathak took charge as the Chief Secretary of Sikkim on September 1, 2022. Pathak, a 1990-batch IAS officer, also served as Additional Chief Secretary-Cum-Development Commissioner, Planning & Development Department, with an additional charge of the Finance department.
