Agartala: A total of twelve Bangladeshi nationals were arrested in Tripura on Monday. The twelve Bangladeshi nationals allegedly entered India illegally. They were arrested at the Agartala Airport when they were about to fly to Chennai on an IndiGo flight with fake Aadhaar card.

The staff members of IndiGo airlines detected the fake Aadhaar Cards of the Bangladeshi nationals when they had gone to collect boarding passes for travelling to Chennai from Agartala via Guwahati.

The security personnel of Agartala airport apprehended the Bangladeshi nationals and handed them over to Agartala police after IndiGo staffers informed them about the fake Aadhar cards being produced by the nationals from the neighbouring country.

During interrogation, the Bangladeshi nationals confessed that they had illegally entered India via the Tripura border and acquired the fake Aadhaar cards from some people in Sonamura subdivision.

Meanwhile, a search operation has been launched by the Tripura police to bust the racket, which provided the fake Aadhaar cards to the arrested Bangladeshi nationals.

Earlier in October last year, a 30-member group was busted by the police in Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh for creating fake Aadhaar cards. The members of the gang allegedly registered thousands of people under various government welfare schemes like Jagananna Cheyutha, YSR Pension Scheme, Nethanna Nestam and Aasara, and earned easy money.

In July last year, three Aadhaar card swindlers were arrested at Rangpur village in Doomdooma, Assam. The swindlers were cheating people by supplying fake Aadhaar cards. As per information, two youths from Digboi, named Dipak Chetri and Kamal Khatiura assembled in the house of Bikash Chetri at Rangpur village for the purpose of a bumper business that they had carried out by supplying fake Aadhar cards among the villagers at Rs 500 for each such card. Police seized one printer, one machine used for fake Aadhar card printing, many documents, besides some cash from their possession.
