AGARTALA: In order to upgrade health care facilities at Dharmanagar, on Tuesday, a Memorandum of Understanding was formally signed between the Tripura government and the Cachar Cancer Hospital Society from Silchar. Discussions were held prior to this that were led by Biswa Bandhu Sen, State Assembly Speaker, and MLA, Dharmanagar.
The state government has allocated fifteen acres of land in the Algapur area for the construction of the cancer hospital, with an annual rental fee set at just one taka. A delegation of the Cachar Cancer Hospital Society consisting of Neelabh Majumdar, General Secretary; Ravi Kannan, Director of the Research Center; and Dr. Arun Kumar Bhattacharya, Retired Principal of Silchar Medical College, visited Dharmanagar to formally sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the District Magistrate of North Tripura.
After the signing ceremony, a meeting was held at the Dharmanagar Circuit House, in which Biswa Bandhu Sen discussed the further process of the project with the delegation. It will make a tremendous health infrastructure in the region so that the population could receive the essential cancer treatment services.
The building of the cancer hospital will address the acute health needs of the Dharmanagar citizenry and is indeed going to be a giant leap forward in the area's medical infrastructure. The state government and the Cachar Cancer Hospital Society together are moving on with the idea of improving the health services in the interests of the people.
