CM Biplab Kumar Deb appreciates Tripura police role in the war against coronavirus

AGARTALA: Along with the doctors and other health workers, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has highly appreciated the role of Tripura Police in the State’s fight against coronavirus and said they have set an example in the country.

It may be recalled that the Union Home Ministry (MHA) also recently appreciated the role of Tripura police after a photograph showing that the police personnel are head carrying ration items in a remote village evoked nationwide sensation. He said that the police played a significant role in implementing the lockdown, ensuring social distance in crowded places, locating people coming from virus affected areas and sending them in quarantine centre. He said the police performed all these duties in a highly professional manner.

Citing statistics he said the police prepared 18,556 mask and distributed them among the people, distributed 32,690 packets of cooked food and carried ration of 9046 persons to their home. He said the toughest task before the police were to locate people coming from outside and putting them in quarantine centre which they have done efficiently and took 2975 persons into quarantine centre though none of them were found infected.

The police also relocated 126 markets in different parts of the state to avoid crowding and ensuring that people can purchase their requirements maintaining the necessary distance. He said the police performed these duties very effectively and still doing the same.
