Agartala: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the newly constructed Integrated Terminal Building at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Tripura's capital city of Agartala.
The PM's visit was not only confined to this and he launched key initiatives namely the Mukhyamantri Tripura Gram Samriddhi Yojana and the Project Mission 100 of Vidyajyoti Schools in the state.
The event was also attended by the Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Deb Burman.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's office (PM0), the cost of the New Integrated Terminal Building of Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport stands at about Rs 450 crore.
It is a state of the art structure which has modern facilities in it and it is backed by the latest IT network-integrated system. It is spread over 30,000 square meters.
This developmental project is part of the PM's endeavor to provide modern facilities in all airports across the country.
Project Mission 100 aims at improving the quality of education in the state by transforming 100 existing High/Higher secondary schools to Vidyajyoti schools with the best facilities and quality education.
The expenditure of this project will cost around Rs 500 crores in the next three years and about 1.2 lakh students will be covered from nursery to class XII.
Mukhyamantri Tripura Gram Samriddhi Yojana is aimed at achieving the benchmark standards as far as service delivery in core development sectors at the village level is concerned.
Household tap connections, domestic electricity connections, all-weather roads, functional toilets for every household, recommended immunization for every child, participation of women in Self Help Groups, etc are some of the key sectors selected for this scheme.
Under this scheme, the villages will be incentivized for achieving the benchmark standards for service delivery in different sectors.
It is expected that a sense of healthy competition will be induced among the villages in order to improve the service delivery at grassroot level.
