AGARTALA: As the prospect of a separate Railway Division at Silchar is getting brighter, the north Tripura town of Dharmanagar is fuming over the diminishing chance of fulfilling its demand. The Dharmanagar Railway Division Demand Committee has decided to renew its agitation. The prospect of a new division at Silchar becomes brighter with the formation of a committee by Indian Railway to see the infrastructural facilities and other utilities of setting up a separate division there. The Indian Railway proposed a separate division at Silchar in 2014 but the matter remained silent since then. The issue revived recently with the announcement that a Railway committee from Lumding will visit Silchar soon.

Two leading figures of the Dharmanagar Railway Division Demand Committee -- Bapi Dey and Himangshu Pal -- said they are not backing out of their demand and has already activated all the block and sub-divisional committees and a fresh agitation program will be announced soon.

They also urged all the Members of the Parliament from Tripura and the concerned MLAs to raise the demand at their respective levels. They further stated that the public representatives also will be invited to join the agitation programmes.
