Tripura: ATGDA CWC Meets CM Manik Saha to Discuss Key Healthcare Service Issues

The discussion primarily focused on the Tripura State Health Services (THS) Amendment, extending the retirement age of THS doctors to 65 years.

AGARTALA: The Central Working Committee (CWC) of the All Tripura Government Doctors' Association (ATGDA) met with the Chief Minister of Tripura, Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, at his official residence on Monday, January 3, evening to discuss six critical issues concerning the state’s healthcare system.

The discussion primarily focused on the Tripura State Health Services (THS) Amendment, extending the retirement age of THS doctors to 65 years, reappointment issues of THS doctors, absorption of THS doctors into Tripura Medical Education Service (TMES), TMES Amendment, and the approval for the absorption of 19 ad-hoc MBBS doctors through TPSC.

CWC also raised concerns regarding doctors currently on short-term deputation, urging their conversion to permanent transfers where feasible to ensure better healthcare services for the people.

The chief minister assured ATGDA of his serious concern regarding these pressing matters and instructed the Office of the Director of Health Services (DHS) to take proper and time-bound actions through the Health Secretary’s office, particularly concerning the THS Amendment and ad-hoc doctor services.

Additionally, CWC secured the CM’s gracious consent to attend the Biannual State Conference of ATGDA, scheduled for March 8, 2025. The ATGDA president could not attend the meeting due to health-related reasons, as he is currently out of the state. CWC expressed gratitude to the CM and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Tripura’s healthcare services.
