AGARTALA: In a major development near the Indo-Bangladesh border, BSF personnel successfully intercepted an attempt by Bangladeshi smugglers to illegally transport sugar through the Magaruli Gram Panchayat in Kailashahar, Unakoti district. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday morning, has highlighted growing security concerns and tensions along the international border.

In a statement to the media, Tripura Minister Sudhangshu Das emphasized the seriousness of the situation. "This is a matter of great significance, especially as it has been highlighted by national electronic media at this time. We witnessed the events that unfolded yesterday at the international border in the Magaruli area," he said.

Minister Das disclosed that a group of Bangladeshi smugglers attempted to illegally infiltrate Indian territory, but their efforts were successfully thwarted by alert BSF personnel. "During this illegal attempt, our BSF personnel made strong efforts to halt the smuggling activities. Unfortunately, they were attacked by 'Jihadi' radicals. This is an ongoing issue, as Bangladeshi smugglers regularly attempt to smuggle goods and narcotics into India," he explained.

The minister also voiced concerns about the worsening situation in Bangladesh following the shift from former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government to the current Yunus-led administration. "The condition of Hindus and 'Sanatani' people in Bangladesh has deteriorated, with daily attacks on them. Advisors in the Yunus-led government are reportedly facilitating the infiltration of people into Indian territory through Tripura, with the aim of inciting unrest in India’s northeastern region," he alleged.

Minister Das further highlighted that certain anti-national groups in the region are supporting these activities, making it more difficult for border security forces. "This is a matter of serious concern, and we must tackle it collectively to protect our borders and ensure peace in the region," he added.

The incident underscores the ongoing threat of smuggling and illegal infiltration along the Tripura border, sparking calls for increased vigilance and coordinated efforts to address the issue effectively.
