AGARTALA: In a recent announcement, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha revealed that multiple states have been approaching the Tripura government to request the deployment of Tripura State Rifle (TSR) troopers for maintaining law and order in sensitive areas. The Chief Minister expressed his confidence in the dedication and effectiveness of the TSR troopers in their previous deployments, which has made the state eager to offer their personnel for critical law and order duties.

Dr. Saha confirmed that he has signed the consent papers for sending TSR contingents to assist with election duties during the upcoming state polls, responding to a requisition from the Election Commission of India. This move highlights the reputation of TSR for ensuring free and fair elections.

Currently, two battalions of Tripura State Rifles are stationed outside the state, and this decision will further expand their reach and influence. Dr. Saha made these remarks during the passing-out ceremony of the 14th and 15th battalions of TSR, which marked a significant development in the state's security forces.

These two new battalions notably included women troopers, a first in TSR's history. The Chief Minister commended TSR's crucial role in neutralizing militant groups during the turbulent times of armed insurgency in Tripura. Beyond tackling insurgencies, TSR has also cooperated effectively with other security agencies in maintaining public order and serving as a second line of defense in bordering areas. The force has also proactively engaged in combating drug-related issues.

The passing-out ceremony, held at the KTD Singh Police Training Institute, witnessed 331 soldiers completing their rigorous training. Notably, 137 women troopers were recruited for the first time in TSR, reflecting a commitment to gender diversity within the security forces. In total, 1,413 soldiers underwent training to join the 14th and 15th IR battalions of TSR, further enhancing the state's law enforcement capabilities.

DGP Tripura Police, Amitabha Ranjan, who was present at the ceremony, commended TSR for establishing itself as a trusted brand for the state. He highlighted the comprehensive training received by the new recruits, equipping them with the necessary skills to handle various law and order situations effectively.

Tripura State Rifle troopers have gained recognition for their dedicated service in maintaining law and order, earning requests from other states for their deployment. The Chief Minister's approval for their participation in election duties underscores their pivotal role in ensuring the integrity of democratic processes. The inclusion of women troopers in TSR's new battalions reflects the force's commitment to diversity and gender equality, further enhancing their capabilities to meet the state's security needs.
